My family started way back in 2001, when I was 17. Thats when I met my husband, Heath. This is going to sound a little, um., wrong, but I was actually living with his brother at the time. Let me rephrase that.....my husbands' brother was my room mate. Platonic. Room mate. More like house mate. We did not share a room. So, now that we are clear on that, my twin Sister and I had both just moved into her "then" boyfriends' parents rent house in Catoosa, OK. There was 5 of us young crazy irresponsible 16-19 year olds living in this house. It was fun.- at first. Until we ran out of money and patience with each other but thats another story. This was also the time period I was introduced to..........SIGH.........Heath Guinn.
Once we were introduced Heath and I were inseperable. He was living with his sister about 5 miles away. He was also the cutest guy I had ever seen. With the ever so popular turn of the century blond tips ( it was very cool at the time) and greenish blue eyes (with a brown dot in the left one), tan abs, and very shy polite manners, I was smitten. It was the summer before his junior year, and my senior year at Catoosa High School. Before anyone starts calling me a cougar, Heath was a year older than me but had repeated a younger grade in elementary.
Our first place was established in February 2003 at Riverport Apartments in Catoosa, with Heath attending Rogers' State and working at Rons Hamburgers. I worked at the gas station accross the street and we would walk to work every morning together. It was great. We didnt have a car that would go more than a block without over heating, and I remember more than once trying to put change together to buy overpriced Bread at Homeland. One day in fact we got there with the exact amount in hand, and got to the bread aisle to find that they had raised the price of bread by a quarter. A QUARTER! OUTRAGEOUS! Well, crap. Even though these first few years were full of many trials, I remember them with a warm smile in my heart! We were young and in love and we were in it together. I'll never forget these moments because it really pushed us to be successful, and to notice when others might need a helping hand.
This is also the year Heath started learning more about Creation Science, and starting catching on fire for God, which eventually ignited me and heated me up from the lukewarm mess I had become.
We married in 2004. Seven months later my grandmother, whom I had always known as "mom" because she had raised me since 10 months, passed away due to a heart attack. Even though I wanted to, Heath said he refused to let me creep into depression by sleeping the day away and ignoring when friends called. He encouraged me to start beauty school, so I did in August of 2005. Shortly after graduating Claremore Beauty College 1 year later in 2006, we found out we were pregnant---WITH TWINS BOYS!!!!!
Troy Forrest Bryce Guinn and Seth Maverick Anthony Guinn- known to the masses as Troy and Maverick, were born on May 14th, 2007, after a pretty challenging pregnancy with two weeks before birth in the hospital and 1 week after, they finally came home. Twins at home to new parents is challenging to say the least, and we will be the first to tell you that our marriage took a big hit as well, but thankfully, God came through and sent us words of wisdom and encouragement through Jim Schnorenburg, the family counselor at FCC Owasso. We owe a lot to him
The Guinns Today
Heath is now the owner of Green and Clean Lawn Care in Owasso- you can check it out at www.greencleanlawncare.com. He also works at Cox Communications as a field tech and also in the process of launching an online store and site for those passionate about the outdoors. He eventually plans on starting a ministry focusing on reaching fatherless sons with the use of his love for nature.
Troy and Maverick are almost 4 (yikes!) and are in their last year of a local MDO program. Troys favorite color is Orange and he likes to draw. Maverick prefers yellow and insists on picking out his clothes.
I, Celia, am now a stylist at a local salon. I love to make things, plan events, and hang out with my kiddos! I'm always looking for ways to challenge our family to become what God has designed us to be. Soon, I will be starting a Blog Series called " Can the Guinns......" Where you can follow our quest to push ourselves to better our quality of life, and also focus on our health and community.
Our first installment will Start May 1st, and will be entitled "Can the Guinns go a MONTH without T.V.?"
Stay tuned!!
